Senior Paralegal and Office Manager

Barbi Ferrera is a senior litigation paralegal and office manager at Smith/Barbara. With over 20 years of experience in civil litigation, her vast expertise includes premises liability, automobile liability, bodily and personal injury liability, medical malpractice, wrongful death, negligent security, commercial litigation, complex non-commercial matters, labor and employment, products liability, first party property insurance defense (insurance coverage and bad faith), third party property, real estate, probate and general liability. 

Her consultative prowess in civil litigation has afforded her the opportunity to work with senior partners at the management and trial levels. As senior litigation paralegal, Barbi’s role requires developing and collaborating with litigation teams and overseeing the implementation of litigation strategies. She has successfully led cases from inception, through discovery and trial preparation. 

Barbi is currently attending Florida International University to complete her bachelor’s degree in criminal

justice, where she is a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.

Barbi graduated cum laude from Miami Dade College with an Associate of Arts Degree in Journalism and is

an alumnus of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Barbi received her Florida Registered Paralegal certification

in 2015, and her American Bar Association Certified Paralegal certification from the National Association of Legal Assistants Paralegal Association in 2017. 

Outside of work, Barbi volunteers for several organizations including Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and Relay for Life. A true achiever, Barbi has successfully completed two half marathons and a plethora of 5k and 10k races. Her go-getter attitude has not stifled her warmth or attention to individual needs. Her high level of emotional intelligence has been honed by her fluency in English, Spanish and conversational French.
